One of the downsides of websites created by WordPress is that whenever you use Adsense or any other ad network, the website goes down due to bad hosting. But blogger.com never goes down, because it is hosted by Google servers. The Blogger platform is a service of Google, which is why it is controlled by Google. You will get security facility in your blog and no one can hack your blog easily. In Blogger custom domain it provides you free SSL certificate whereas in WordPress you have to purchase it. Blogger.com is Google's own site, that's why it's 100% trustworthy.
Disadvantages of Blogger -
Blogger is fully owned by Google so Google can delete your blog whenever it wants. You will get limited features in Blogger which you have to work with. Google does not provide any latest updates easily for its users on blogger site. You can never access the files that are in your blog's root folder as Google has full control over it. You will get some limited features in blogger for SEO due to which blogger has to take more time to search engine. You can't customize Blogger site like WordPress.
Advantages of WordPress –
WordPress gives you full control of your blog and you can access your blog's root folder. WordPress provides many plugins for SEO that you can use to improve your blog's SEO. There are many free and premium themes available for WordPress that allow you to fully customize and modify your blog.
Disadvantages of WordPress –
Self-hosted WordPress blog requires you to invest some money every month for hosting and domain. You have to learn a lot to start blogging with WordPress. Otherwise you will not be able to blog easily through WordPress. When starting blogging through WordPress, first of all you need to keep in mind that the hosting must be from a good company. If the hosting is not good then your website can be down anytime. Which will later affect your website ranking badly. WordPress security depends on what kind of hosting you use and what plugins you use to keep your blog secure.
Calculation –
In my opinion Blogger or WordPress are both better platforms. It is better that you feel comfortable working on the platform. But blogger is best for beginners. According to me if you are new and want to create blog site then you can create site from Blogspot.com because it has many more features than wordpress which is convenient for newbies to work. Also if you want to create a simple blog then I highly recommend you to create your blog on blogspot or blogger. But if you want to do professional blogging and make it your main source of online earning then WordPress will be the best blogging platform for you. My recommendations would be first of all you create your blog on blogspot if your blog starts to grow well and you get adsense approval on your blog then you migrate that blog to wordpress.
